1896
Three unique experiences, combining modern comforts with rich local history.
Loki Loft & Cellar | The Brickworks | The Crows Nest
Originally constructed after the fire of 1894, the building is one of the first made from bricks produced at the Millington Brothers Brick and Tile Yard in Kaslo, and it is one of only two still standing today. Recognized as a heritage building and added to the Canadian Register of Historic Places, the 1896 stands as a testament to the town’s enduring charm and resilience.
Tasked with the space plan, design and furnishing, it was important to pay homage to the historical context of the 1896 building. Each unit provides a unique experience while harmonizing with the original charm. Finishes that complement the century-old brickwork, paired with modern furniture and amenities, allow the 1896 to serve both as a landmark and a luxurious home base for exploring the West Kootenays.
